Building energy efficiency has been paid more and more attention,the relevant departments have developed a series of building energy efficiency standards,so designers began to use energy efficienct design tools for building energy efficient design.Building energy simulation gradually became a useful technique for predicting building energy performance and comparing design options.Many of these tools are sophisticated and promise a high level of accuracy.The application of energy simulation tools in building energy efficient design demonstrates its reliability and effectiveness.However,many building energy simulation tools are sophisticated and inconvenient for architects to use.One of the most important reasons is that energy simulation tools require many input parameters which cannot be defined in early design stages.This paper presents a knowledge-based approach to simplify the energy simulation process during the conceptual design phase,in compliance with the energy efficiency standards of China.The paper describes the importance of energy efficient design in the early stage and analyzing the obstacles that architects encounter when they are using energy simulation tools.The knowledge-based approach combined with China’s energy efficiency standards can resolve the difficulties,and it elaborates the steps of the approach.OpenStudio is selected as the platform to achieve the knowledge-based approach.The implementation of this method depends on the development of an intelligent knowledge base which can assist architects to conveniently set up a model satisfying both China’s building energy efficiency standards and energy simulation requirements.The paper introduces the data processing method in the intelligent knowledge base,the construction of the internal data in the intelligent knowledge base was complished,and the integration of the intelligent knowledge base and the energy simulation platform was achieved by technical measures.And a case study is presented to analyze the reliability and the advantages of the proposed knowledge-based tool.The paper is divided into six chapters,the first chapter mainly introduces the research background,present situation,research objectives and framework of technical route.The second chapter investigates the knowledge base in existing software,summarizes their advantages and disadvantages,introduces the demand analysis of the energy efficient design software,and designs the initial framework of the ideal knowledge base.The third chapter analyzes and selects the modeling platform and the energy consumption simulation engine for the knowledge-base approach,designs the frame of data structure in the intelligent knowledge base,establishes the data type and structure that should be stored in the knowledge base and solves the problem of how to combine the modeling platform with the energy simulation engine.The fourth chapter analyzes the parameters specified in China’s building energy efficiency standard and the parameters needed by the energy simulation engine,the parameters are compared,and then it details the data processing methods in the knowledge base to ensure that the data in the knowledge base can satisfy the demands of both the energy efficiency standard and the energy simulation engine.The fifth chapter introduces the construction process of the intelligent knowledge base which was achieved by technical measures,and the integration of intelligent knowledge base and energy simulation platform was specified,and it carries out the expansion of the template of energy efficiency standards in the knowledge base.The sixth chapter mainly presents a case study to analyzes the performance of the energy efficeint design tool which based on intelligent knowledge base,the energy simulation results were analyzed,and the advantages of the tool has been summarized.Chapter 7 summarizes all the research results of this paper,and the prospects of the future research is proposed.
