In recent years,rutting and moisture damage appeared frequently in Chinese highway.As a natural asphalt modifier,buton rock asphalt(BRA)has excellent pavement performance as well as great social and economic benefits.It has became a hot topic among pavement researchers.Based on the experiment road of Ji Qi highway in Yongli,tremendous experiments had be done with different content of BRA modified asphalt and modified asphalt mixture performance to provide useful i8 nformation for future application.Firstly,10%,15%,20%,25% and 30%BRA modified asphalt was made based on modified asphalt crafts.Though conventional index tests and DSR test,the spike of BRA enhance the performance high temperature and durability.Its durability is better than AH-70 asphalt and SBS modified bitumen.DSR test shows BRA modified asphalt's shear modulus G * increases,the phase angle ? is reduced,rutting factor G */ sin? increased,anti-rutting deformation also increase a lot.The optimal content is 20% to 30%.Secondly,aggregate experiments were conducted.Using Marshall designing method to determine the aggregate ratio and rock asphalt ratio of AC-13 C type and AC-20 C type."Dry" delivery process and temperature control plan was been chosen to produce mixture.Using SGC and Marshall Compactor molding optimum asphalt rock asphalt modified asphalt mixture ratio.Performance comparison study shows that two mixtures meet the technical requirements.Specimens shaped by SGC have higher density and stability than those shaped by Marshall.Thirdly,the paper produces 2.0%,2.5%,3.0% BRA and SBS modified asphalt mixtures and testing their main performances.The dynamic creep tests under multiple freeze-thaw conditions indirect tensile test,semi-circular bending test,semi-circular bending fatigue test results showed that BRA helps to improve the high temperature stability and fatigue resistance of asphalt mixture,reduce susceptibility to fatigue stresses.Mixture obtained excellent short and long term stability of water,especially for long-term stability.However,BRA will reduce the low temperature cracking resistance of mixture.Conclusions of modified asphalt and mixture have a good correlation.Mixture performance can infer by modified asphalt tests.Fourthly,based on the BRA modified asphalt testing in JIQI highway,the whole construction process and quality control requirements were introduced.a series of studies of the optimal BRA content and the socio-economic benefits shows great singfrant.Studies had shown that,AC-13 C type and AC-20 C type best BRA content is 2.3% and 2.6%.a single lane could save 1481.76 yuan/km and 710.58 yuan/km,which means that it has a certain economic benefits.BRA modified asphalt mixture can prolong the service life of the road surface,reducing the maintenance and repair cost as well as energy.It's delivery,storage,transportation and other process are simple.BRA suitable for high temperature,severe water damage areas with heavy traffic.BRA has social significant and environmental benefits,and excellent application prospect.
