As a precious heritage of Chinese traditional culture,the traditional Chinese architecture has its distinctive characteristics,especially its interior daylighting environment.The Chinese ancient architecture is also a typical genre of religious building and accordingly possesses a dual nature of religion and lighting environment of ancient Chinese architecture.The purpose of this paper,through the study of the natural lighting environment of Chinese ancient Buddhist architecture,is to explore the characteristics of daylighting environment of Chinese ancient Buddhist architecture,seek out design methods and affecting factors of Buddhist architecture lighting environment and provide guidance for the creation of the daylighting environment of modern special interior space,ancient buildings or antique buildings.The ultimate goal is protect Chinese traditional cultural heritage.Based on the analysis of the development of traditional Chinese architecture,the discussion of its light culture and adequately summaried previous research,by the field research in Beijing,Tianjin and Hebei Province and computer simulation,the first-hand data was acquired and the feature and influence factor was gained.Field research is divided into basic research and key research.In this paper,the basic research including thirteen Buddhist temple and seven Imperial Palace in Beijing,Tianjin and Hebei.From the basic research,the illuminance and luminance standard of ancient buildings were obtained by use of the high dynamic range image technique and it is found the Guanyin pavilion in Tianjin is of the high research value and representation.And key research was after Guanyin pavilion.From field research,the basic information of protection and history and calture value was acquired,which was served as the basic data.Computer simulation,with field research,is an effective means of research.Through the use of Radiance,the paper simulates and analyzes the lighting environment of Guanyin pavilion of the Dule Temple and analyzes the affecting factors of the daylighting environment.At present,there are few related researches at home.This study,for the first time,as a large field survey of domestict Buddhist hall indoor natural lighting environment,makes up for the vacancy of related research field.
