The real estate industry drives the rapid development of the furniture market.In the current multicultural environment,only highlighting the cultural features of the nation is the way out.In addition,furniture is a product closely linked with the lives of consumers.Therefore,among the factors considered in selecting this type of product,the consumer’s emotional factors are particularly important.Based on the theoretical foundation of perceptual engineering and emotional design,this thesis studies from the aspects of furniture products using traditional elements and the emotional needs of users.Finally,establish the correspondence between the use of traditional elements of furniture products,the expression of traditional elements and the emotional needs of users.For furniture product designers and furniture manufacturers to provide the basis for the use of such furniture design methods and the design of the appearance.In order to improve the market competitiveness of the product and reduce the design time of such furniture products to meet market demand.The paper first analyzes the classification of traditional elements,the design expression of traditional elements in furniture design,the emotional expression of furniture products,and the composition of furniture products.Then take a typical sample of modern furniture based on traditional elements as a sample for morphological analysis of the sample,design the expression of the form of analysis and semantic interpretation of the vocabulary pair with the perceptual imagery determined after data statistics.Establish the mapping relationship between the sample form and the design expression of the traditional elements of the sample and the perceptual image of consumers.Finally,the simulated consumer image was designed according to the mapping relationship between the seat shape,traditional element design expression form and imagery,and a semantic difference questionnaire was established to verify the corresponding experimental feasibility.The results of the research show that the correspondence between the product shape based on traditional elements,the expression of traditional element design and the emotional needs of consumers obtained through the experiments in this study can enable designers to accurately grasp consumer images and convert them into images.The design elements thus efficiently design furniture products that meet market demands.
