The increasing growth trend of aging population is one of major social problems in China.An aging society will inevitably bring numerous social problems and aging population of demand issues.Travel is a daily requirement for aging population.However,how to ensure a safe travel is the basic condition that should be provided by social service demand design.To ensure the senior citizen safe travel is the focus of all sectors of society,and it is also a major social problem that is to be solved urgently in China.The research purpose is to solve the old’s potential safety hazards during their travel.According to the senior citizen physical discomfort hidden dangers caused by a long walk during daily travel,the old’s public wheelchairs are set up at public places to ensure their travel safety.Public wheelchair is commonweal product.Commonweal products are beneficial to the public and acts on social influence.The commonweal product doesn’t take profit as a goal.The design of commonweal products aims to reflect humanistic care,the core value and significance of design ethnic.As a superstructure of design,design ethnic plays an important guidance role in aging commonweal product design.The old’s behavioral patterns at public places are conducted a demand analysis.In addition,combing with the old’s characteristics on physiology and psychology,a research analysis is carried out.Moreover,the design principles of public wheelchair are concluded with the help of theoretical research and various research data.The research achievements are reflected by the final design scheme.The design of public wheelchair at public places solves the old’s potential risks due to a long walk.In the meanwhile,it ensures and improves the old’s travel safety and quality,which reflects the tolerance and harmony of the society.
