With the State Department Public Transport Priority policy putting forward,China’s urban public transportation continues to develop.Customized bus is a new-born mode of public transportation in recent years.Customized buses in different operating modes like dominated by government investment or operated by Internet companies have been developed in many cities in China. However, after several years of development and practice,it has been proved that except Beijing, the customized buses in most cities have encountered problems such as the neglected routes, the low attendance rate, the insufficient number of enrollment routes, and so on,which are in urgent need of reflection and solution. This paper studies the orientation of its function and traffic characteristics of customized bus in urban public transportation, studies the method to set up stops and service modes of customized buses. Then the customized bus service modes are divided into four basic types and the applicable conditions of each type are analyzed.By learning the present situation of the customized bus in these cities, this paper summarizes the lessons learned from the successful experience or failure of the customized bus in several representative cities in China, including the lessons of the customized bus operated by Internet companies.Chengdu customized bus meets the problem of “unsufficient publicity” and “only a single service mode, the demand can not be accurately matched” and so on.Subsequently,an "attitude-based survey" questionnaire was designed to grade 1-5 service levels of customized bus in Chengdu. The reliability of the questionnaire was evaluated using Reliability Analysis Test and Validity Analysis Test. The better and less favorable factors of current customized bus service in Chengdu are analyzed.Critical factors are chosen, which will lay the foundation for the next SP survey.By designing the SP questionnaire,we investigated the choice behaviours of commuting trips of Chengdu residents to Single-stop Customized Bus,Multi-stops Customized Bus,Conventional Bus and Private Car.Orthogonal design is used to simplify the number of scenarios. The NL model is established to explain the rationality of the model. The NL model is ideal for explaining the traffic travel behavior. The probabilities of choices of all samples in different situations are averaged. The probabilities of choosing each traffic mode are as follows: 9.12% of Single-stop Customized Bus,15.74% of Multi-stops Customized Bus,45.45% of Conventional Bus and 29.68% of Private Car.The study found that the average choice probability of multi-stops customized bus is higher than the choice probability of single-stop customized bus, which has a certain contribution to upgrading the customized bus sharing rate. Finally, the elastic values of each variable such as cost, access time, travel time and number of stops are calculated to determine the impact of key variables on the probability of choice of traffic modes. The study finds that changes in cost, access time, travel time and other factors have a significant effect on the choice of traffic mode,so as to provide strategy and suggestion for the development of multi-stops customized bus in Chengdu.
