Beijing’s urban scale has been developing and expanding in recent years, and the number of motor vehicles has been rising, reaching 6.365 million as of 2019.The huge number of motor vehicles has put tremendous pressure on the capacity of Beijing’s current transportation network, and urban traffic congestion and carbon emission environmental problems have ensued. These problems are particularly evident in Beijing’s CBD and other core business districts. To solve this problem,we need to guide travelers to shift more from car travel to public transportation, and customized public transportation as a new public transportation service, with its strong comfort, flexible routes, few stops and fast response to demand, has become an important supplement to public transportation. This paper focuses on the specific quantitative effects of each factor on traveler satisfaction with customized public transportation, and analyzes the specific effects of each factor to provide a basis for public transportation managers and planners to coordinate planning.A mediator model was developed to study how each factor affects traveler satisfaction with customized public transportation and to analyze the traveler’s behavior in choosing customized public transportation,in which traveler satisfaction with conventional public transportation and satisfaction with private car travel were set as mediating effects. The model was tested for convergent and differential validity and validated by the Bootstrap method. The results showed that the two mediating effects were significant and the model was a two-way mediation model. The results also show that travelers’ satisfaction with travel time, price, comfort, punctuality, station location and convenience of information channels all positively reflect their satisfaction with customized public transportation, with station location and convenience of information channels being the most important. The highest degree of satisfaction with customized buses has a negative impact on the satisfaction with conventional public transportation and private cars, and the decrease of satisfaction with conventional public transportation and private cars has a positive impact on people’s willingness to choose customized buses. The direct effect is higher than the indirect effect. This paper then establishes the utility function of travelers’ choice of travel mode based on a multinomial logit model with personal attributes and program attributes and a mixed(random parameters)logit model, and the results of the multinomial logit model are tested by the Hausman test to verify that the irrelevant program independence(IIA)results do not pass the hypothesis. The heterogeneity of age, average monthly income, and education level were demonstrated by the mixed logit model results and the specific effects of each factor on travel mode choice were calculated for marginal effect analysis. In this paper, there are 35 figures,26 tables, and 88 references.
