With the rapid development of the cities in our country and the continuous improvement of people's living quality,the residents' travel demand has been greatly released.Residents' trips become farther in distance,later in time.At present,most of the cities in our country lack of the service by night bus or just extend operating time of regular bus to later time.The lack of a scientific and reasonable scheduling strategy leads to the low quality services of night bus and reduces its attraction.Therefore,it is very necessary to study the new type of night bus transportation.This paper reviews exsiting studies of demand-responsive public transportation and performs research on the topic of night flexible bus scheduling.This paper studies the night flexible public transit systems,by considering the current situation of night bus operation in our country,emphasizing the necessity of night flexible bus.We compare and analyze the traditional public bus,clarify the features and advantages of flexible public transport operations,and proposing the operation mode of demand responsive station of night bus.By considering the road network structure and the layout of the city function,Shape of the service area is determined.Analyze the key factors of service area such as flexible bus departure intervals and travel demand density,and determine the size of the service area.Based on that,the choice of flexible bus types and vehicle operating conditions are clarified.According to the elements of the flexible bus system,We design the flexible bus operation flow method.Taking the departure time as the demarcation point,the flexible bus dispatching process is divided into two phases of dispatching before and after the start of the vehicle.The first stage is static scheduling.The initial path is determined based on the fixed station,reserved station,and the station that is non-responded by the previous bus.The second stage is dynamic scheduling.Based on the initial path of the first stage,the passenger demand is updated in real time,The bus route changes accordingly.A multi-objective programming model is constructed,considering bus operating costs,operating income,passenger travel time costs,and non-responsive penalty fees.A solution method is developed by using genetic algorithm.Finally,based on a selected bus line in Chengdu,simulation is performed to run the flexible bus.Results are compared with the regular bus and a night flexible bus with one vehicle,the validity and feasibility of the two-vehicle service mode is discussed.
