Head-up display(HUD)has become part of China's civil aviation development plan in the future,and CAAC plans to have all airliners are installed and used HUD by 2025.The HUD system puts the flight information in front of the pilots' field of view in a collimated projection so that pilots do not have to look down and refocus their view of the outside,which can improve the pilots' flight performance.However,inserting information(HUD character)between pilots and the outside world may cause confusion in the display,attention capture,and cognitive tunneling effect,affecting flight safety.This paper studies on a method can assess visual masking phenomena,and the results can provide a method reference and theoretical basis for HUD design and airworthiness certification.The main contents of this study include the following four parts:(1)To study and analyze the airworthiness regulations on transport aircraft cockpits,on-board electronic equipment,HUD design and use,and human factors promulgated by the FAA.Parsing the meaning of the terms corresponding to the HUD display defect.Analyzing the minimum performance standard for airborne HUD published by SAE to determine the design aspects that may affect visual masking.(2)To research and analyze the SAE8055 A standard and relevant literature,initially determine a comprehensive three-level evaluation index system,set up the evaluation index system with Modified Delphi method,and screen out the indexes that greatly affect the visual masking phenomenon.(3)Based on the evaluation index system established above,we choose experimental variables to design and carry out a controlled experiment of the pattern masking phenomenon that pilots use static HUD during approach and landing in runway intrusion scenarios.By analyzing the flight performance and subjective evaluation of subjects,we get the best range of different experimental variables.(4)An experiment of metacontrast is designed and carried out for the pilots to use the normal HUD for the approaching and landing under the runway incursion situation.The flight performance,subjective evaluation and eye movement data are recorded and analyzed statistically.Explore the pros and cons of the test flight performance under different variable values and explore the relationship between the subject's eye movement index and flight performance.
