The effect of dietary green tea powder(GTP)on growth performance, slaughter performance, serum biochemical indicators and meat quality indicators of broiler chickens was investigated in this study.A total of 450 1-day-old arbor acre broilers were randomly allotted to 5 groups and each group had 45 male broilers and 45 female ones. All broiler chickens were freely accessible to the diets and water for a period of 42 days.Dietary treatments used in this study were control group(basal diet),GTP1%(basal+GTP1%),GTP2%(basal+GTP2%),GTP4%(basal+GTP4%)and GTP6%(basal+GTP6%).The pilot test period was set to 3 days, and dietary green tea powder was added since the first day.The body weight, feed intake of broiler chickens was recorded weekly.5 male broilers and 5 female ones in each group were selected to measure the slaughter performance and serum biochemical indices and meat quality indicators. The main findings of this dissertation were as follows:1 No significant differences were observed in growth performance indicators among treatments.1%GTP and 2%GTP had not obviously promoted grwth performance, while 4%GTP and 6% GTP made the production performance lower. The feed gain ratio(F/G)presented a downward trend in 1% and 2% group. The slaughter performance(slaughter rate,semi-eviscerated rate and eviscerated rate)also tended to increase. The breast muscle rate of male and female chicken of broilers treated with 1%GTP increased by 10.88% and 6.10% respectively, meanwhile the thigh muscle rate of male and female ones increased by 13.34% and 6.86%.2 Serum biochemical experiments showed that the addition of green tea powder by-product to diets tended to promoted the immune performance of broilers.Adding green tea extract to chicken feeds had potential benefits to elevate Serum immunoglobulin A(Ig A),immunoglobulin G(Ig G),immunoglobulin M(Ig M),globulin(GLB),total protein(STP),albumin(ALB)content of broilers.Blood lipid content were downregulated notably among treatments.Serum triglyceride content decreased by 12.26%,9.91%,13.62% and 22.57% compared to control group.Total cholesterol(TC)content fell by 10.22%,5.02%,5.28% and 4.47% respectively.Low density lipoprotein(LDL)content reduced by 10.40%,23.59%,9.03%,1.46%.However,high density lipoprotein(HDL),very low density lipoprotein(VLDL),Free fatty acid(FFA)and Leptin(LEP)content increased in different degrees. The chicken body antioxidant levels also improved abviously after GTP added.Serum superoxide dismutase(SOD)content increased by 5.65%,12.67%,11.16%,18.25%,while Malondialdehyde(MDA)content decreased.Glucose metabolism had changed, but a significant difference was not observed.3 TC levels in broilers meat decreased obviously.Compared with control group, the TC content in breast meat of male broilers reduced by 28.22%(p<0.05),14.39%(p<0.05),11.19%,7.43% and reduced by 9.05%,4.57%,15.08%(p<0.05),3.62% in thigh meat of male broilers.Meanwhile, the TC levels in breast meat of female broilers reduced by 20.00%(p<0.05),26.09%(p<0.05),18.37%(p<0.05),14.47%(p<0.05)and decreased by 18.97%(p<0.05),11.89%(p<0.05),14.36%(p<0.05),5.61% in thigh meat of female broilers. The Inosinic acid levels increased in different degrees. The vitamin E levels also presented a upward trend in chicken meat. The vitamin E levels in thigh meat and breast meat of male chickens respectively increased by 31.25% and 42.31% in GTP6% group. However, the Interm ucal fat content in broiler chickens meat changed hardly. In conclusion, the best addtive range of GTP in arbor acre broilers fodder was 1%-2%.
