As a kind of important common demand of traditional Chinese Medicine, wild licorice is short and needed to mass planting. Breeding and threshing machinery of soybean, wheat and maize are relatively mature, but not to licorice in China. The breeding and threshing machinery is important to expand the cultivatable area. Threshing by hand and universal machine is the main way using in licorice breeding and threshing in domestic. Threshing by hand is hard to shortening period of threshing, promoting farming season and reducing labor incensity. Common threshing machinery is not applicable to licorice threshing for its high rates in seed damage and losing. The development of special threshing machinery of licorice with high productivity and low losing rates has a important significance to solve the problems exist in the progress of licorice breeding and threshing.Research status and characteristics of breeding and threshing machinery at home and abroad are described in this paper. The design of threshing device, separating device and cleaning unit for licorice threshing machinery are made after getting the parameters of licorice threshing. This paper also includes the content of the theoretical analysis of machine,prototype fabrication and test analysis. The main content included as following aspects:1) The determination of basic parameters of licorice seeds form different provenaces is made. The experiment on tensile and suspension of licorice maize ear is completed. The results of experiment is used to analysis their effect on separating cleaning system and provide the theoretical basis to the design of separating clean system.2) Mechanism design and calculation analysis of parts. The force analysis and strength check of drum is made with Workbench in ANSYS after three-dimensional modeling with Solidworks.3) Optimization experiment. The optimization experiment of the working parameters,which have effects on the thresher is completed after setting the linear velocity of drum and feed rate as influencing factors and the ratio of carrying secretly loss, broken rate and unthreshed rate as objective function.4) The manufacture of special thresher for licorice seeds. Prototype is made in college of Mechanical and Traffic, Xinjiang Agriculture University after three-dimensional modeling and engineering drawing is draw with Solidworks, and the performance experiment of the machine is completed.
