Sugar maple is not only with colorful leaves in autumn,but also has dense tree canopy.The most useful product is the maple syrup which extracted from the sap has a special health value,but the seed is dependent on Canada currently,container nursery can save the breeding material effectively.Effects of different container size,matrix formula and fertilizer application on sugar maple were studied in this paper.Through the comprehensive comparison on various morphological indicators,biomass accumulation and some physiological indicators,the seedling growth rhythm of sugar maple were revealed and the suitable container size,matrix formula and fertilizer practice were determined,aiming at providing reference for large-scale production of the sugar maple container seedlings.We get the following results.(1)The black plastic nutrition bowl of five different sizes(D8cm×H12cm,D10cm×H12cm,D10cm×H20cm,D12cm×H18cm,D12cm×H20cm)were used for growing seedlings in order to select the most suitable container size.The research analysis showed that D10cm×H20cm was the best container size for sugar maple seedlings,the ground diameter,root length,lateral root number,root fresh weight,root activity and Chlorophyll content of seedlings were the largest,and from the consideration on the economy,the breeding cost is relatively low.(2)Litter were fermented and then mixed with peat,perlite,vermiculite,sand,cow dung and garden soil to form 7 mixed matrixes of different proportions,garden soil used as control group.Through the analysis of the physicochemical properties and morphological indicators,biomass accumulation and some physiological indicators of the sugar maple in the different matrixes,the results showed that treatments 2(peat:perlite:litter = 4:1:2)was the suitable matrix formula for sugar maple seedlings,the hydrolysis N content of its matrix was the highest,for288.03mg·kg-1,and the ground diameter,root length,root fresh weight,root activity and chlorophyll content of seedlings were the largest.Also,treatment 5(litter:sand:cow dung = 3:1:2)owed good performance on growth targets,the effective P content of its matrix was the highest,and the lateral root number,root shoot ratio and soluble sugar content of seedlings were the largest.(3)By the different proportions about NPK fertilization experiment,form No.1to 11 were different fertilizer formulations,No.12 as contrast,only using water.Effects of fertilizer application on sugar maple were studied in this paper,the resultsshowed that treatments 3(N2P1K2)was the suitable fertilizer application for sugar maple seedlings,namely nitrogen fertilize(N)1.2g per plant,phosphorus(P2O5)0.3g per plant and potash(K2O)0.9g per plant.the Ground diameter,root length,root fresh weight,root shoot ratio and root activity were the largest.Also,treatment5(N2P1K1)owed good performance on morphological indicators,biomass accumulation and physiological indicators of sugar maple.
