Given the concern about the issues of drug residues and drug-resistant bacteria, adding antibiotics into animal diets as growth promoter has been banned in many countries. In this context, phytogenic additive,as an alternative, has attracted a great deal of interests. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of Fresta-F and Aromex-ME on the growth performance blood serum parameters and antioxidant capacity of weaned piglets and provide a scientific basis for the application of phytogenic additive. There are three experiments constituting this thesis.1.Effects of Fresta-F and Aromex-ME on the growth performance of weaned piglets and feed nutrient utilization. In total,180 pigs(Duroc ×(Landrace × Yorkshire))weaned at 24 d of age with a similar body weight were randomly allotted to 3 treatments in a randomized complete block design according to their sex and body weight(6 replicates with 5 gilts and 5 barrows per pen).Control group(T1)fed a basic diet and treatment groups fed diets added with:250 g/ton Fresta-F(T2),100 g/ton Aromex-ME(T3).This trail had lasted for 40 days. The results indicated that:(1)From 24 to 64 days of age,FCR decreased by 13.13%(P<0.05)and 9.38%(P<0.05)respectively in T2 and T3 compared with T1.On 64 days of age,ADG in T2 and T3 were 12.21%(P<0.05)and 10.78%(P<0.05)higher than that in T1(P<0.05).(2)Both Fresta-F and Aromex-ME could lift the digestibility of DM(P<0.05)and CP(P<0.05),respectively.(3)No significant difference was observed on the survival rate and diarrhea rate among the different groups(P>0.05).2.Effects of Fresta-F and Aromex-ME on the blood parameters and fat metabolism indicators of weaned pigs. The treatments were arranged as experiment 1.The results indicated that:(1)On 44 days of age,Fresta-F and Aromex-ME could significantly reduce the TP content in serum respectively by 19.27%(P<0.05)and 17.13%(P<0.05),at the same time,Aromex-ME can significantly reduce the content of UN in serum by 25.06%(P<0.05).But no significant difference was observed on the other blood parameters among the different groups in mid and late term of trail.(2)Fresta-F and Aromex-ME could significantly reduce the content of TC in mid and late term of trail. On 64 days of age, content of HDL-C increased by 23.29%(P<0.05)and 26.03%(P<0.05)respectively in T2 and T3 compared with T1.LDL-C was significantly decreased by 33.57%(P<0.05)in T2 compared with T1.3.The effects of Fresta-F and Aromex-ME on the antioxidant capacity of weaned pigs;the antioxidant capacity of Fresta-F and Aromex-ME in vitro.Three assays were conducted to determine the antioxidant capacity of Fresta-F and Aromex-ME in vitro:scavenging radical activity on DPPH?ABTS,and the Ferric-reducing antioxidant power(FRAP)assay. The results indicated that:in mid-term of trail, both Fresta-F and Aromex-ME could increase the activity of SOD and the capacity of T-AOC,decrease the level of MDA in plasma, but failed to alter the antioxidant parameters in late term of trail;both Fresta-F and Aromex-ME had certain ability of scavenging free radicals and reducing power, though weaker than BHT.In conclusion, the dietary supplementation of Fresta-F and Aromex-ME could enhance the growth performance, reduce blood lipid of the weaned piglets, and improve circulatory antioxidant capacity of the piglets during the early weaning period.
