Tagetes are introduced cultivars in China, with their large and plentiful flowers, long flowering, and plant diseases and insect pests are rare. As a potted flower, flowers for the flower beds, or cut flowers, has great development potential and broad market prospect. To better meet floriculture and consumption, it is necessary to carry out the regulation of flowering. In this study, two cultivars of Tagetes (Tagetes patula'Bonanza Bees'and Tagetes eresta'Mount Tai Orange') as research materials, natural light in Ya'an area (long day) for control, mainly studied the effects of different photoperiod (8/16 h,10/14 h,12/12 h, day and night). The results indicated:(1)Tagetes patula'Bonanza Bees'and Tagetes eresta'Mount Tai Orange'were quantitative short-day plant. Under short-day treatment plant flowering in advance, florescence extended, plant type was compacted in morphology. Long-day delayed blooming and shortened florescence, but plant type was tall and strong. The process of flower bud differentiation under different photoperiod was basically consistent, and Tagetes patula 'Bonanza Bees' and Tagetes eresta'Mount Tai Orange'were not sensitive to photoperiod in the nrocess of flower bud differentiation.(2)Photoperiod had distinct effects on account of flower?diameter of flower and florescence. Under the continuous short-day conditions of 8/16 h,10/14 h,12/12 h, Tagetes patula'Bonanza Bees'flowered 1,2,5 d earlier, full bloomed 3,5,5 d earlier and ended 5,3,2 d than nature light; Tagetes eresta'Mount Tai Orange'flowered 10,10,11 d earlier and full bloomed 10,13,11 d earlier than CK; Tagetes eresta'Mount Tai Orange'under 10/14 hended 4 d earlier CK as same as 12/12 h, but ended 11 d later than CK under 8/16 h; the flowering duration of Tagetes eresta'Mount Tai Orange'longer than control respectively 21? 6?7 d. When the two cultivars treated with short-day length, the account of flower and their diameter decreased, because of short-day length reduced the quality of flower.(3)Photoperiod had no effects on contents of chlorophyll?soluble sugar and soluble protein of Tagetes patula'Bonanza Bees', by contrast, had significant effects on contents of soluble sugar and soluble protein of Tagetes eresta'Mount Tai Orange'. The soluble sugar content of Tagetes eresta'Mount Tai Orange' under long-day treatment was significantly higher than under short-day treatments, and the soluble protein content is opposite.Soluble sugar and soluble protein is the material base on flower bud differentiation, when they accumulated to a certain amount, the important factor affected the flower bud differentiation of Tagetes patula 'Bonanza Bees' and Tagetes eresta 'Mount Tai Orange' is photoperiod.(4)In the blooming process, photoperiod of Tagetes patula 'Bonanza Bees' leaf contents of C?N and C/N ratio had no significant influence, but all had significant impact on Tagetes eresta 'Mount Tai Orange'. C content and N content of Tagetes eresta 'Mount Tai Orange' under long-day treatment was significantly higher, and the C/N ratio is opposite. According to the theory of carbon nitrogen ratio, the result shows that high C/N ratio is beneficial to flower bud differentiation.
