The phenotypic correlation analysis,path analysis,subdivision of phenotypic correlation coefficient,total regression analysis,and stepwise regression analysis between the body weight and several body sizes of Dorper,Texel,White Suffolk,Poll Dorset,Borderdale,Tianzhu Merino population and Yongchanggannong new breeding population were carried out.It can provide an reliable theoretical basis for future sheep breed selection.Chest circumference has an significant influence on body weight at 0.01 leval in Dorper.Body length and chest circumference has an significant influence on body weight at 0.01 leval in Texel,White Suffolk and Tianzhu Merino population.Body height and chest circumference has an significant influence at 0.01 leval in Poll Dorset and Borderdale.Body length,chest circumference,cannon-bone circumference has an significant influence on body weight in Yongchanggannong new breed population..The optimum regression equation between the body weight and body size of Dorper was y=-55.378+1.292x3,and the normalized form of it was y=0.777x3(R2=0.604,p<0.01).The optimum regression equation between the body weight and body size of Texel was y=-92.307+0.837x3+0.937x2,and the normalized form of it was y=0.669x3+0.271x2(R2=0.674,p<0.01).The optimum regression equation between the body weight and body size of White Suffolk was y=-105.123+1.217x3+0.619x2,and the normalized form of it was y=0.738x3+0.186x2(R2=0.704,p<0.01).The optimum regression equation between the body weight and body size of Poll Dorset was y=-107.687+1.214x3+0.757x1,and the normalized form of it was y=0.782x3+0.205x1(R2=0.778,p<0.01).The optimum regression equation between the body weight and body size of Borderdale was y=-133.520+0.787x3+1.693x1,and the normalized form of it was y=0.718x3+0.435x1(R2=0.665,p<0.01).The optimum regression equation between the body weight and body size of Tianzhu Merino population was y=-63.110+0.811x3+0.448x2,and the normalized form of it was y=0.600x3+0.324x2(R2=0.704,p<0.01).The optimum regression equation between the body weight and body size of Yongchanggannong new breed population was y=-71.454+0.662x3+0.699x2+2.356x4,and the normalized form of it was y=0.513x3+0.269x2+0.121x4(R2=0.605,p<0.01).All the optimum regression equation between the body weight and body size mentioned above were established by measuring body weight and body size of 72 Dorper,94 Texel,113 White Suffolk,51 poll Dorset,60 Borderdale and 163 Yongchanggannong new breed population fed in Yongchang breeding sheep for mutton reproduct technology extension station and 30 Tianzhu Merino population fed in Tianzhu sheep feeding special cooperation agency.
