Grafting can achieve the purpose of high yield and high efficiency by reducing continuous cropping barrier,enhancing the resistance and disease resistance of melon(Cucumis melon L.),In recent years,with the increase of the cultivated area of melon,the demand of grafted seedlings has developed rapidly.However,the lack of rootstock has become an important factor to influence the development of grafting cultivation.The study had chosen different types of rootstocks and scions,compared the affinity between rootstocks and scions,the plant growth status,the disease resistance yield and quality.Found out the optimal combination to provide guidance for the extension and application of melon grafting cultivation.The chief results are showed as follows:1.The affinity of the Cucumis melo ssp.conomon of 'Luhoutian No.l' with 'Qingyan No.l' and 'Juejinglong' were better,and the seedling rate were more than 75%;The Cucumis.melo ssp.melo of 'Jingtian No.5' and 'Jingtian No.208' with 'Qingyan No.1','Juejinglong','Quannengtiejia' and 'Yelang' have the best affinity,the seedling rate is above 80%.2.Based on the late growth status of grafted plants,the growth vigor of the grafted combinations of 'Luhoutian No.1'with 'Qingyan No.l','Juejinglong' and 'Yelang' were superior to other combinations;The grafted combination of ' jingtian No.5' with 'Qingyan No.1','Juejinglong' and 'Quannengtiejia' were superior to others.3.Comparing the yield and quality of grafted combinations,the quality of 'Luhoutian No.l' with 'Qingyan No.1','Juejinglong' and 'Quannengtiejia' were equal to scion-root seeding,but the yield were improved 20%—30%,and the quality of the grafting seedlings with other rootstock was lower than that of the control;the quality of 'jingtian No.5'with'Qingyan No.1'were similar to scion-root seeding,and the yield increased significantly by 16%,next was 'Juejinglong' and 'Quannengtiejia'.4.Comparing the disease resistance of rootstocks,all grafting seedlings were effective to overcome soil-borne diseases,which had almost no disease,and the effect was significant;The incidence of powdery mildew of the grafting seedlings with 'Qingyan No.l','jingang','Quannengtiejia' and 'Juejinglong' were lower.5.The comparison of the different breeding methods with the selected three rootstock'Qingyan No.1','Quannengtiejia' and 'Juejinglong',found that the intensive grafting can significantly improve yield,the grafed seedings of 'jingtian No.5' were improved by 20.89%,17.89%and 15.59%respectively compared farmers cultivated seedling;The yield of intensive breeding was under grafting seedling,but still increased by 6.06%compared farmers cultivated seedling.
