ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of the Sodium tanshinone ?_A sulfonate injection(STS) in the treatment of coronary atherosclerotic heart disease(CHD).MethodsWe performed a prospective observational cohort study to evaluate the role of STS in the treatment of CHD. Three hundred patients with CHD were finally included in the present study from Shanghai Tenth People's Hospital. Half of these 300 patients were treated with STS, and the other half was the control group. We measured the changes of blood biochemical indexes after intervention, including blood brain natriuretic peptide(BNP), C-reactive protein(CRP), white blood cell(WBC), red blood cell(RBC), hemoglobin(Hg), platelet(PLT), total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG), high density lipoprotein(HDL), low density lipoprotein(LDL),liver function, kidney function, angina pectoris and electrocardiogram(ECG).ResultsSTS treatment significantly decreased the levels of CRP, TC, LDL, and increased HDL in patients with CHD, as compared with the control group. Moreover, both STS and control drug treatment reduced the attacking frequency significantly, and the decline was greater in STS group. The total effective rate of angina pectoris was90.67%(136/150) and 74%(111/150) in the STS treatment and the control group, respectively. The number of patients who had adverse drug reaction was 18 and 17 in STS group and control group respectively. All these adverse drug reactions were on need of further treatment.ConclusionsThe present study suggested that STS treatment might improve the clinical symptoms of coronary heart disease angina and electrocardiogram in patients withCHD mainly through regulating the levels of CRP, TC and LDL. STS(40 mg ivgtt qd)was well tolerated and had a beneficial effect in the present study.
