ObjectivesTo explore the expressions and significance of CK19?HBME-1?Galectin-3 and CD56 in papillary thyroid carcinoma and benign papillary hyperplasia and paracancerous thyroid tissues.To find immunohistochemical markers combinations of high sensitivity and high specific degrees.Methods:Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expressions of CK19?HBME-1?Galectin-3 and CD56 in papillary thyroid carcinoma of 180 cases and papillary hyperplasia of 180 cases and paracancerous thyroid tissues.Measurement data to mean standard deviation(s),using chi-square analysis((?)s),all data were put into SPSS17.0 statistical software for statistical processing,P<0.05 was statistically significant.Moreover,the relation of their expressions to clinical pathological index was analysized.Results:The positive ratios of CK19?HBME-1?Galectin-3 in papillary thyroid carcinoma were 94.44%?88.33%?97.77%,The positive ratios of CD56 in papillary thyroid carcinoma were 8.88%.respectively,The positive ratios of CK19?HBME-1?Galectin-3 in benign thyroid papillary hyperplasisa were 10.00%?25.00%?13.88%,The positive ratios of CD56 was 95.55%.Their positive ratios in paracancerous thyroid tissues were 83.33%?13.88%?7.77% and 94.44%.There were all statistical difference between them(P<0.05).There were no relationships between expressions of these makers and the clinicopothological features in papillary thyroid carcinoma.When combining these four makers,co-expression of CK19?HBME-1?Galectin-3 and CD56 was seen in 99.44% of papillary thyroid carcinoma,respectively;the specificity can reach 97.77%,if this staining result is chose as diagnostic criteria of papillary thyroid carcinoma.ConclusionsCK19?HBME-1?Galectin-3 and CD56 can be useful biomarkers for differentiating benign and malignant thyroid tumors.The combined immunohistochemical stainings of CK19?HBME-1?Galectin-3 and CD56 are useful on the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of papillary thyroid carcinoma,significantly improving the accuracy of the pathological diagnosis and providing a reliable basis for clinical treatment.
