Study Of Transcutaneous Electro Acupuncture Combined With Electroacupuncture Treatment On Functional Dyspepsia Patients With Postprandial Distress Syndrome

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of Transcutaneous Electro Acupuncture(TEA)combined with Electroacupuncture(E A)treatment on functional dyspepsia(FD)patients withpostprandial distress syndrome(PDS),and explore the po ssible mechanism of it.Method 36 FD patients with PDS was randomly divided into three groups,with 12 patients each group.Among them,group A received TEA combined EA treatment,including TEA(twice a day,45 min each time)and EA treatment(twice a week;30 min each time);group B received sham TEA combined with EA treatment,including sham TEA(twice a day,45 min each time)and EA treatment(twice a week;30 min each time);while group C received only EA treatment(twice a week;30 min each time).The course of the treatment was 4 weeks,during which all the patients were visited before the treatment,after 2 weeks treatment and after 4 weeks treatment.At each visit,indigestion symptom,quality of life questionnaire and Zung's anxiety and depression rating scale were measured,the receptive relaxation function was assessed,electrogastrograph(EGG)and heart rate variability(HRV)were conducted,and the motilin level were measured.Result 1.Indigestion symptom scale analysis: After treatment,the scores of patients in group A were significantly decreased at both the end of the second week and the fourth week(P <0.05).While it showed no difference in group B or C(P >0.05).Compared to group B and C,the scores of patients in group A showed a remarkable decrease after the treatment(P <0.05).2.Quality of life scale analysis: After treatment,the scores of patients in group A were significantly decreased at both the end of the second week and the fourth week(P <0.05).While it showed no difference in group B or C(P >0.05).Compared to group B and C,the scores of patients in group A showed a remarkable decrease after the treatment(P <0.05).3.Anxiety and depression rating scale analysis: After treatment,the scores of patients in group A were significantly decreased at both the end of the second week and the fourth week(P <0.05).While it showed no difference in group B or C(P >0.05).Compared to group B and C,the scores of patients in group A showed a remarkable decrease after the treatment(P <0.05).4.The receptive relaxation analysis: After treatment,both the threshold drink intake and the biggest drink intake of group A witnessed a obvious rise(P <0.05).While there was no significant difference in group B or C(P >0.05).Compared to group B and C,the threshold drink intake of patients in group A had a remarkable increase after the treatment(P <0.05).5.Electrogastrogram analysis: After treatment,the main frequency,gastric slow wave ratio and postprandial / fasting main power of group A showed a significant difference comparing to which before the treatment(P <0.05).Compared to group B and C,the relating EGG parameters in group A had a remarkable difference after the treatment(P <0.05).6.Heart rate variability analysis: After treatment,the improve of vagal tone and a decrease of parasympathetic/vagus ratio had shown in group A,comparing to which before the treatment(P <0.05).Compared to group B and C,it showed a great difference in group A after the treatment(P <0.05).7.Motilin level analysis: After treatment,the motilin level of group A were significantly increased at both the end of the second week and the fourth week(P <0.05).While it showed no difference in group B or C(P >0.05).Compared to group B and C,the motilin level of patients in group A showed a remarkable rise after the treatment(P <0.05).Conclusion TEA combined with EA treatment can not only significantly reduce the clinical symptoms,but also improve the quality of life of FD patients with PDS.Therefore,its a safe,convenient and non-invasive new therapy for FD patients PDS.And the mechanisms main have concern with adjusting the function of brain-gut axis,stimulating the vagus nerve activity,improving receptive relaxation and gastric motor,and raise the motilin level.
