The "NP+V Q?l�i+AP" Structure In Chinese And Its Application In TCFL

Known as a typical middle construction,the "NP+V qilai+AP" structure plays an essential role in Chinese.It has drawn much attention from both domestic and overseas linguists since 1980s.However,previous researches on this structure are mainly restricted to its structure analysis and generative mechanisms,with few of them touching upon its application in TCFL.To tackle this issue,the writer of this paper will first discuss some issues concerning this structure from the perspective of TCFL in detail.Then,some suggestions on better applying it in TCFL will be proposed based on problems concerning the "NP+V qilai+AP" construction,which arose from teaching Chinese to foreign students.This thesis contains five chapters:Chapter one is introduction that consists of four parts:the background,significance,purpose,and methods as well as sources of this study.Chapter two deals with previous researches on middle construction in both English and Chinese;the typical Chinese middle structure is also discussed.This paper argues that the "NP+V qilai+AP" structure which was extensively discussed by previous researchers is the typical middle construction in Chinese.Chapter three manly touches upon the status quo of NP+Vqilai+AP construction in TCFL.In this chapter,the writer of this paper analyzed the necessity of teaching this construction in TCFL based on samples taking both from oral and written Chinese.Next,problems in adapting it in TCFL are also presented from three aspects,namely,compiling of textbooks for TCFL,the use of them among foreign students and classroom teaching.Chapter four brings up some suggestions on the better use of the 'NP+V qilai+AP' construction in TCFL.Basing on the problems mentioned earlier in Chapter three,this chapter mainly put forth some advises in textbook compilation and classroom teaching in preliminary,vantage and advanced levels.At the end of this paper,reference programme of instructions and teaching methods for the three levels will be enclosed herewith respectively.Chapter five is the conclusion,a general review of the whole thesis.Some limitations will also be given.
