The Turn Of MacIntyre's Study On Virtue From The View Of The Virtue Of Acknowledged Dependence

Alasdair Chalmers Mac Intyre was the representative figure in the big trend of contemporary moral ethics' renaissance. According to the analysis of Mac Intyre's complete thought route on virtue since the start of moral crisis, the paper attempt to point out and explain Mac Intyre's turn or change, of Aristotle from following him to beyond him, of his methodology from historicism to empiricism, of his virtue theory from rejecting biology to accepting it.At the beginning of Mac Intyre's virtue theory's development, the author employed historicism analysis and narrative to restate virtue tradition of different ages in the west, while following Aristotle's basic method on virtue, and inherits his basic idea on virtue, in order to form Mac Intyre's own virtue method. In the mid, Mac Intyre was getting close to Aquinas, and doubted to Aristotle. Although Aquinas is Aristotelian, his thoughts were not the original idea of copying, but had its own originality. At a later stage, Mcintyre jumped out of the thought of Aristotle. He built the foundation for the existence of morality in a new perspective of thinking, that means virtue is based on the biological basis about animal attribute and attribute dependency of human.I have analyzed and discussed the main contents and characteristics of the development of Mcintyre's thought of virtue of each stages in this paper.On the one hand, I have clearly showed the development of his ideas from the course to pursue to transcend to thought of Aristotle, on the other hand,I have resolved the changes of Mac Intyre in research ideas, while his methodology was changing from historicism to empiricism.
