Compiled by a Japanese monk named Xin Rui in South-Song Dynasty of Emperor Li,the book called A glossary about three scriptures of the Pure Land sect of Buddhism or Jing Tu San Bu Jing Yin Yi Ji(????????)is composed of the meaning and sound of three scriptures named Wu Liang Shou Jing,Guan Wu Liang Shou Jing and E Mi Tuo Jing.713 words or sentences that are difficult to understand are listed in this book,and the author spared no efforts to mark the pronunciations,distinguish the forms and interpret the meanings of them.When compiling this book, Xin Rui quoted from different sorts of traditional academic works of China ahout Confucius classics, history, philosophy and literature,with the total number being 272 kinds. The materials he quoted cover many areas inclding linguistics, literature, Buddhism and even social life, with the total number being 2563 pieces. And the content of these materials are the original texts, annotations or original texts plus annotations from the above works. By comparing the materials in this book with their original sources, some similarities and differences can be found.These differences mainly include some variants, borrowing or a bit errors of the charaters.Based on the version of this book collected in A collection of exicographical books about Buddahism(??????)and by adopting the method of corpus linguistics and also the method of combing linguistics and philology,the author build a database system about this book.Then according to this system,the author makes classifications about the sorts of the quoted books,analyses the characteristics about the overall system about them and compares the quoted materials with their original sources as as well as making some explainations about such differences so as to reveal the valus about this book on linguistics and philology,etc.
