The Governance of China is a compilation of 79 of President Xi Jinping's speeches, talks, interviews, etc. It is a response to international attention on China and a channel through which the international community can learn about China's development philosophies, development paths, as well as domestic and international policies. The multilingual versions of this book also contribute an intriguing subject to Translation Studies.China-specific expressions not only reflect the status quo of China's political environment, but are also indicate the future development trends of China's policies. They play an indispensible role in international relations and cooperation, Therefore, the translation of these expressions is particularly important and need to be carefully studied. This thesis examines the translations of China-specific political expressions in the Russian version of the Governance of China taking the perspective of the skopos theory, which features three basic rules, namely, fidelity, coherence, and skopos. Unlike traditional translation theories that focus primarily on fidelity or equivalence, the skopos theory focuses on the functionof the translation. In this thesis, the China-specific political expressions from the Governance of China is first categorized and characterized according to Katharina Reiss'text typology theory and then discussed on the basis of Hans Vermeer's "three rules". This study not only provides insights into the translation strategies employed in the Russian version of the book, but could also serve as guidelines for future translations of China-specific expressions in the political contexts.
