Nature Reserves in China written by Li Wenhua is the first treatise on the construction of nature reserves in China. And Li is a distinguished forest scientist and ecologist, actively promoting international cooperation in the field of ecology and sustainable development.Chapter one and two of this book that the author selects mainly concern the essential status and development history of nature reserves in China.Based on the translation of chapter one and two of Nature Reserves in China, the author uses appropriate translation methods under the guidance of Skopos theory put forward by Hans Vermeer. The thesis is analyzed from the following aspects: the analysis of translation at lexical, syntactic and cultural levels under the guidance of Skopos rule, the analysis of translation at lexical, syntactic and cultural levels under the guidance of coherence rule, and the analysis of translation at lexical, syntactic and cultural levels under the guidance of fidelity rule.First, the author expresses the analysis from lexical, syntactic and cultural levels under the guidance of Skopos rule. It's known that Chinese and English are two different language families.Noun and preposition are frequently used in English, while Chinese tends to use verb.Besides, order of expression of languages is diverse and culture between China and western countries is also various. Therefore, under the guidance of Skopos rule, the author should achieve the communicative purpose through employing transliteration and liberal translation, part of speech as well as readjusting translation methods.Second, the author presents the analysis from lexical, syntactic and cultural levels under the guidance of coherence rule. The requirement of coherence rule is aimed at acceptability and understandability of translation.Besides,it's because that English attaches importance to hypotaxis, while Chinese pays attention to parataxis. So amplification and omission and voice conversion are adopted at lexical and syntactic levels. In addition, there are some classical Chinese, which is a bit hard to understand. The author resorts to liberal translation method to express the main meaning.Third, the author analyzes the target text from lexical, syntactic and cultural level under the guidance of fidelity rule. The fidelity rule or intertextual coherence implies that target text should be faithful to the original text, while faithfulness should be determined by the translation purpose and the translator's understanding for the original text. This report consists of four chapters, which cover the introduction of source text, the procedure of translation, case study and conclusion.Chapter one introduces the research background, source text analysis, purpose and significance of the report.Chapter two expresses the translation process, which include pre-translation,while translation and post translation. What the translator should do in pre-translation part is the material collection and theoretical preparation, and what the author needs to do in while translation is the further analysis of the translation material as well as difficulties encountered in the translation process. As for the last process the check and revision as well as quality inspection and reflection should be done.Chapter three is the case study respectively under the guidance of Skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule of Skopos theory, which are mainly analyzed from lexical level, syntactic level, cultural level. And the last chapter is the conclusion, which includes findings, problems to be solved as well as suggestions on future translation practice.
