This report is based on the translation of an IMF review titled China's Changing Trade and the Implications for the CLMV Economies(Chapter 1 and Chapter 3),which is published on September 1,2016.As an economic review, the source text clearly reflects China's changing trade with authoritative indicators, and indicates that China is exiting labor-intensive production, moving up its value chain, and balancing.Aside from that, the review offers analysis on CLMV's trade status and proposes suggestions for the trade development of CLMV countries. The review carries weight among entrepreneurs, researchers, and economists in CLMV in particular. The translator employs Skopos theory as the theoretical basis.Skopos theory regards translation activities as purposive behaviors, and the purpose of translation determines the translation process.Guided by three principles of Skopos theory(Skopos rule, coherence rule, and fidelity rule),the translator applies the translation methods including conversion of word order and voice, change of part of speech, literal translation, negation translation and so forth. The translator is to verify that Skopos theory can guide the translation process,by facilitating readers' efficiency in information acquisition, and accomplishing the purpose of translation.
