With the development of public archaeology, archaeology is no longer a subject which is very unpopular with the public. For a long time, archaeologists have never ceased to work on popularizing archaeological knowledge and encouraging public engagement,so as to shorten the distance between themselves and the general public.Archaeologists in Print: Publishing for the People is an authoritative book that intends to introduce archaeology and archaeologists to the public.According to Skopos Theory put forward by Hans J.Vermeer, translation should abide by skopos rule, fidelity rule and coherence rule,so that the target text has the ability to function appropriately in specific situations and context of use, among which purpose(skopos)of producing the target text should be given priority.Based on the translation of the fourth chapter of Archaeologists in Print: Publishing for the People, this report makes a case study from the lexical, syntactic and textual levels under the guidance of the Skopos Theory of translation in order to study how to adhere to the three rules of Skopos Theory in translation. |
