In Chinese literature, Zhang Ailing is regarded as a legend in the history of modern literature. Her novels have a unique style, because of the various images intertwined in the novels, which results from her keen sensibility and literary expression. Among the descriptions of sense, the employment of sound and colors is the most exquisite and delicate.This paper is aimed at interpreting Zhang Ailing's writing style through analyzing the text of her novels, especially the sound and the color. With the interpretation of the application of sound and colors in the text, the aesthetic connotation behind the sound and the color are further explored. Meanwhile, the study is also on the relationship between the colorful narration and the desolation manifested in the novels, in order to detect the artistic charm in Zhang Ailing's literary works.The first chapter mainly discusses the voice in Zhang Ailing's novels. The sound of the city, the sound of the instruments and the sound of battles are selected in the text are selected and analyzed, in order to explore Zhang Ailing's composing characteristics on sound and her writing skills.The second chapter mainly focuses on the color in her novels. White, red, blue, and green are selected as the representative colors in the text, in order to explore Zhang Ailing's composing characteristics on colors and her writing skills.The third chapter is unfolded by studying relationship between the colorful narration and the bleakness manifested. in the novels, which is based on the analysis of the previous two chapters, in order to provide a better understanding of connotation and artistic characteristics in Zhang Ailing's novels.
