In such a highly globalized world,every industry needs more and more English interpreting professionals.With the establishment of MTI major in various colleges and universities,every college is developing a training program which belongs and suits to its condition,trying to cultivate better professional English interpreters.But there is a apparent problem which should be concerned is that most of the colleges and universities' training programs are still limited to English interpreting teaching itself.However,what we need to know and concern about is that the fundamental goal of training programs for most MTI English major students is to train the suitable professional English interpreters for market demand.Universities should output practical and professional English interpreters to society.But,owing to the different locations,history,cultures,and economic development levels,different regions require diverse professional interpreters to fulfill their specific needs.For instance,in Jiang Su province and Zhe Jiang province,the market needs a large number of English professional interpreters with the knowledge of IT industry,for the high-tech and IT industry are ahead of China in these areas;But in the historical city like Xi' an,the tourism is very developed there,its market will need more English professional.interpreters in the direction of tourism;Even more,in the area where a large number of national minorities live,the MTI English major students are supposed to learn more knowledge of nations and religions that will be better for them.Thus,I would like to say that the direction of interpreting training in different regions should be combined with the actual condition in the local area so that Inter-disciplinary interpreters can be trained for society.And there is one thing we must know that it will be a long and tough way for us to achieve this goal.As we know,this kind of transition of training methods is necessary,but it can' t be done in a few years.Since various colleges and universities established MTI English interpreting major,they have been exploring a effective and suitable training program for themselves for a long time.Now let's put our eyes on Guang Xi province which locates almost in the southernmost of China and it is next to the Southeast Asia.So in this special area,its interpreting market' s need for MTI English interpreting major students must very distinctive.As we all know,Guang Xi government is making more business trade and interaction with countries in Southeast Asia year be year.With more and more international meetings or exhibitions held here,its interpreting market must needs massive professional English interpreters,especiallly high level interpreters with relevant knowledge and experience.Well,such a special and potential market arises my interest.So this thesis is based on the English interpreting talents needed by Guang Xi-ASEAN Development,taking Guang Xi University' s MTI English interpreting major training method as an example,then try to explore a MTI English interpreting training program which is suitable for local market' s need.
