Evaluation Of The Interpreting Quality From The Perspective Of The Skopos Theory-A Report Of Escorting Interpreting In Jinan Five Dragon Pool Scenic Area

With the rapid development of science and technology and the globalization of economy China’s international position has been greatly improved, the economic trade and political exchanges between China and other countries all over the world is becoming more and more frequent, too. As a communication bridge for various kinds of meetings and activities, the interpreter is becoming more and more needed now. Escorting interpreting is a kind of difficulty translation activity; it is required that the interpreter have abundant knowledge reserves and scholars put forward higher requirements on the interpreter’s professional skills. Though it is impossible for an interpreter to do everything perfect during the interpreting process, the interpreter should try his best in every aspect to improve the interpreting quality. Abundant knowledge and the interpreting skills are necessary for an interpreter, but knowing how to evaluate the interpreting quality as well is very important.This report based on the escorting interpreting work of the author in Jinan Five Dragon Pool Scenic Area, and takes part of the work as an example to evaluate the quality of the interpreting from the perspective of the Skopos Theory. Relative interpreting theories and research materials as the guidance are taken in this report.The author gave a brief introduction of the preparation work before interpreting. And some relative theories were introduced in this report. In addition, the author evaluated the quality of the interpreting from the three rules of the Skopos Theory: the Skopos Rule, the Coherence Rule and the Fidelity Rule. Some typical sentences from the interpreting work were selected as examples, with the help of interpreting strategies, to show the importance of the Skopos Theory in interpreting activities. It is hoped that the report can lay guidance for practical interpreting work.
