The Practice Report On The Escort Interpreting Of The Third China Hexi Corridor Organic Wine Festival

With the rapid development of economic globalization, interpreting plays an increasinglyimportant role in foreign exchange and cooperation. Escort interpreting as a basic type ofinterpreting, is very common in foreign exchange and cooperation activities. Many people believethat escort interpreting is very simple, but the truth is far from it. Escort interpreting, unlikemedical interpreting and court interpreting with strict requirements, it still enjoys many flexibleforms and relates to various forms of activities such as foreign language tour guides, banquetinterpreting, or accompanies client or a delegate to a meeting. As an escort interpreting practicereport, this dissertation describes one escort interpreting task conducted by the author of the2013the third session of China Hexi Corridor Organic Wine Festive and analyzes the interpretationfrom the festival’s international forum to discuss common problems of escort interpreting withtext as well as coping strategies and interpreting techniques.This paper mainly includes the five parts. It firstly illustrates the background information ofthe task, clients’ requirements and feature of this interpreting task. Secondly, the author makesspecific records of the pre-interpreting preparation, including interpreting task division,preparation for glossary, interpreting tools and emergency plan. In the third part, a detaileddescription of the interpreting process, including the quality control in the process of interpretingis presented. The forth part is case analysis that is the key part of the whole practice report. It givesa detailed analysis of the problems occurred in interpreting and presents some interpretingstrategies and techniques to cope with these problems. In the last part, the author summarizes thelessons learned in the interpreting practice.Through the task description and analysis, the author summarize some solutions to copingwith the problems occurred in interpreting. As a part of interpreting work, an adequatepre-interpreting preparation is very important. And in the process of interpreting, the use of copingstrategies, like storage, addition and omission, can be the solutions to misinterpreting, disfluencyand other common problems occurred in interpreting.
