In traditional translation theories, translators are marginalized and their importance are neglected. With the development of translation studies, however, translator's role and their subjective initiative have drawn increasingly more attention. The theory of translator's subjectivity has continuously developed and people's understanding of translator's influence on translation has deepened. Translators have been gradually regarded as the most active factor in translation process."The Three-Body Problem" series, by Liu Cixin, a renowned Chinese science fiction writer, have caused a sensation in recent years. The series'grand narrative scenes, super-long span of time, profound meanings in terms of philosophy and humanity and in-depth thinking of the universe and human provide a great reading experience. "The Three-Body Problem" series won many awards in China. In 2015, "The Three-Body Problem", the first book of the series, won the Hugo Award, one of the world's most prestigious science fiction awards. This is the first time a science fiction from Asia has won this award. With "The Three-Body Problem" series, Liu Cixin single-handedly brought Chinese science fiction to the world's top tier.The winning of the Hugo Award of The Three-Body Problem cannot be realized without the high-quality translation. The first two books of the series— The Three-Body Problem and The Dark Forest—have been translated and published. The translators are Ken Liu, a Chinese American science fiction writer, and Joel Martinsen. an American translator. The two translators have different cultural backgrounds and translation styles. This thesis analyzes the two translation works from the perspective of translator's subjectivity and makes a comparative study. This thesis tries to introduce some feasible approaches to the translation of Chinese science fictions.
