Chinese and English are two distinctive languages, which differ in vocabulary, grammar, structure, and cultural connotation. However, simultaneous interpretation requires the interpreter to convert one language into a different language within a very short time. Deverbalization can help interpreters reduce the constrain of the Chinese language structure during simultaneous interpretation, which is particularly helpful to C-E simultaneous interpretation. This paper, based on the framework of interpretive theory, conducted empirical reaseach to find out the impact of deverbalization on C-E simultaneous interpretation. The empirical experiment was done with the help of 8 graduate students from Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation of Beijing Foreign Studies University. This paper supposes that deverbalization leads to better C-E simultaneous interpreting performance. After the experiment, the data of this experiment was used in the qulitative and quantative analysis. The paper arrives to the conclusion: deverbalization helps the interpreter perform better in C-E simultaneous interpreting. This paper consists of five chapters:introduction, interpretive theory and literature review, experiment, the analysis of experimental data and conclusion. The conclusion of this paper further supported interpretive theory and it has realistic significance to the teaching and study of interpreting.
