Abstract/Summary:
This is a translation project. Chapters from 11 to 14 of the source text selected by the project come from the book Online Education: Unshackling Commoners,which was authored by Alan Philowitz. In these 4 chapters, the author of the source text sheds light upon the certain process the development of online education has been through respectively from the perspective of academic and educational field as well as advantages and disadvantages the process brought up to. In the meanwhile, the establishment of the project aims to help the translator lay a solid foundation for his future translation career and to draw great attention of people in academic,educational and translating field so that translation education and specific translating need can enjoy close connection. Moreover, people can have a new recognition on the mechanism for MTI.During the translation project, the translator adopted Skopos put forward by Hans Vermeer as the theoretical guidance, analyzed the purpose of the project,adhered to Skopos Rule, Loyalty Principle and used Documentary Translation and Instrumental Translation. In the meanwhile, the translator also concluded major translation difficulties including the translation of terminology and long sentences as well as how to reproduce the academic value of the source text. Moreover, relevant translation techniques such as amplification and negation were also added. In this regard, the conciseness and coherence of the translated text can be demonstrated to the fullest and the main idea of the source text can be conveyed clearly to the targeted readers so that the requirements of the text be met.
