With the development of economic globalization, labor, information, tourism, culture and education are gradually breaking the barriers of geography and time and widely developed in the world. Among them, thanks to the convenience of globalization, universities around the world can communicate with each other which promotes the civilization and development of humanity. The well-known universities in China need to "go out", and actively take part in the process of globalization. A high quality English introduction can definitely contribute to improve the fame of universities and provides the way and bridge for mutual understanding and cooperation among universities worldwide. But considering the differences between Chinese and English, translation depending on the faithful principle will weaken the effects of information transmission and propaganda purposes. So parallel text in the process of translation can be regarded as an effective method. Based on the English translation practice of Shandong Normal University courses introduction, this report discusses the guidance role of parallel texts in translation of university courses introduction.In recent years, translation of pragmatic text has been attracted a great deal of attention and there have been lots of relative researches on this field. And there are many relative theories which can guide translation process such as the Functional Equivalence Theory and Skopos Theory, etc. This report discusses how to use parallel texts to transfer the information in original text to target readers accurately and comprehensively from another angle of parallel text strategy. Thereby this work can strengthen readers' understanding of Shandong Normal University and provides feasible methods for the Chinese-English translation of the domestic university introduction.
