This is a report based on the translation of A Movie Star Has to Star in Black and White. With the growth of opening up to the world, a large amount of excellent dramatic works have been introduced to China, and some of them have enjoyed popularity among Chinese readers, such as Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice, Arthur Miller's Death of A Salesman, Beckett's Waiting for Godot, O'Neal's A Long Day to Night. Meanwhile, drama translation has gained increasingly attention from many fields. However, as a special form of literature, drama features with duality: literariness and performability, which have enhanced the complexity of drama translation. Comparatively speaking, the number of outstanding drama translation works is still so limited. Therefore, extensive attention should be paid to drama translation.Ying Ruocheng, a well-known actor, translator and director in China, have played many impressive and fascinating characters, like Willy Roman in Death of A Salesman. His translation works, such as Stanislavsky's Othello Director Plan, Shakespeare's Measure for Measure, Lao She's great play, Teahouse and Ba Jin's modern classic, The Family, have gained great popularity among audience at home and abroad. During his long term of translation practice, based on the characteristics of drama language, Ying also formed his own drama translation thoughts and strategies: colloquialism, brevity, actability and individuality.Under the guidance of Ying's drama translation strategies, the writer intends to show how to solve the problem of drama translation strategies application by listing and explaining the writer's own examples. In the last part, the report reaches a conclusion: based on a fully understanding of the drama text, a popular translation version can also be obtained with appropriate drama translation strategies.
