With the development of Chinese traditional culture and the Oriental Management Theory,a growing number of western entrepreneurs have paid close attention to the Chinese traditional culture,aiming to applying its human spirit to the process of modern enterprise management.Overseas Chinese entrepreneurs have embodied the profound Chinese traditional culture and influence their business management by the Chinese spirit.The purpose of this research is to determine the contribution Chinese Canadian entrepreneurs have made to spreading Chinese culture,and to recognize the effects of Chinese spirit on Chinese Canadian entrepreneurship.This thesis spots the spiritual elements,which can be used in enterprise management,of Chinese traditional culture,and the role that overseas Chinese play on upholding Chinese culture;and then makes suggestions to enterprise management and enhancing the soft power of Chinese culture.This research applies literature analysis to sort out related research,combines in-depth interviews,focus groups and questionnaires to test the impact of Chinese spirit on Chinese Canadian entrepreneurship of Greater Vancouver,and uses inductive analysis,correlation analysis in the demonstrating process.Firstly,this thesis explores the existing theories of spirit,Chinese spirit,and entrepreneurship,divides the Chinese spirit into 5 dimensions: Unity of Heaven and Humanity,Benevolence and Altruism,Robust and Self-improvement,Being Comes from Not-being,and Govern by Doing Nothing that Goes against Nature,and then develops a scale for measuring Chinese spirit.Secondly,this thesis introduces the design,implementation and deployment of the in-depth interviews for Canadian Chinese entrepreneurs.Thirdly,this thesis makes correlation analysis and exploratory factor analysis of the questionnaire data,and establishes the relationships among the core variables.Last but not the least,this thesis draws a conclusion,summarizes the impact of the Chinese spirit on Chinese Canadian entrepreneurs,and make suggestion to enhancing the soft power of Chinese culture.This research breaks the limitations of localization study of Chinese culture and spirit.My supervisor and I have made a special trip to Canada for the interviews and surveys.In addition,this research determines five dimensions developed a measuring scale of Chinese spirit,which will provide new ideas and methods for future research.
