As a core task of the vocational education reform,the curricular reform has been in its full swing based on the policies of “service purposed,job orientated and the production-study-research combined”.As a result,the school-based curriculum stands out as an important part.Because the general objective is to cultivate talents to serve in all kinds of field like technology,production,management and service ones,higher vocational English education has put new demands on the teaching reform of English curriculum.Despite the attention,the professional English has been in an awkward and worrying position,which is quite worth the notice.How to change this state is a new problem for the current higher vocational education workers,especially the English teachers.It is imperative to carry out the development of school-based curriculum in Vocational College and explore professional English Curriculum development in vocational colleges.Through the analysis of the situation of pharmacy English curriculum,a branch of Vocational College English,the author has found some drawbacks of the current teaching,such as the unspecific position of professional English,a lack of teaching source,inadequate traditional teaching method and students' lack of enthusiasm and motivation.In order to overcome these difficulties,the author has pointed out that the number issue is to develop the“personalized” school-based curriculum to satisfy the teaching and learning needs,also discussed in essay about how to better develop the professional English course in vocational colleges.Based on a detailed introduction in the procedure and process of the school-based curriculum development in pharmacy English,this paper puts forward the experimental hypothesis that school-based Pharmaceutical English curriculum does improve the teaching quality.The teaching experiment lasted a semester in a medical vocational college in Fujian with two optional classes of students as subjects.In the experimental class to carry out the teaching and learning mode under the guidance of school-based curriculum,the traditional teaching and learning mode is adopted in the control class.On the basis of the data from the test after the experiment(P = 0.043 < 0.05)and the questionnaire,the hypothesis is confirmed.It is necessary and feasible to develop a pharmaceutical English school-based curriculum.Consequently,the teaching and learning model under the development of school-basedcurriculum is more helpful to the vocational college English teaching,more suitable for the students' professional training and the actual demand of school and society,which can stimulate students' learning motivation and interest,and enhance the students' English application ability,and which can also update the vocational English teachers' teaching concepts,and is an effective way to improve their teaching quality.
