The study of Japanese folk tales began in early twentieth centuries.In the long river of China history has accumulated a large number of folk tales, China and Japan have close cooperation and complex relationships, It was a productive and fertile period of research Chinese folktales for Japanese scholars, and the results of their research also brought great inspiration to Chinese scholars. There were many Japanese scholars' Chinese Folktales research papers or writings in this thirty years,however, most of the paper are listed in academic achievement, or simply paraphrased translations, and more described of development, less research characteristics and discipline, further on, there are some research done by Japanese scholar for their own review and reflection. So its necessary to systematically sort out and analyze the Japanese scholars' Chinese folktale research, also understand their research characteristics and research methods.we can clearly see the characteristics of Japanese scholars' Chinese folktales research, such as the comprehensive and diversified perspective, comparative studies emphasis on the research methodology and continuous self-improvement, in the use of a wide range of material but having strict cautious attitude.Japanese scholars using a variety of methods to study Chinese folktales' structureand cultural connotation, comparative study with the Japanese folktale, however, there are some area still can be discuss in the course of the study.In short, we are hoping to provide reference for the future development of Chinese Folktales by review Japanese scholars' Chinese folktale research in this period.
