The Mongolian Folktale is an indispensable part of Mongolian folk writings and it is also the abundant treasure of Mongolian culture. Mongolian folktales use the vivid and ingenious words to describe the lives and struggles of Mongolians and accumulate the wisdom and abilities of Mongolian people. They reflect Mongolians’ love, ideological trend and national traditions and customs. At the same time they convey the fine ideals and hopes. Therefore it is well-worthy and valuable to study and research Mongolian Folktales.The translation of the Mongolian folktales into Chinese is not only a brilliant deed in the history of the Mongolian translation into Chinese but also a significant development between the Mongolian and Chinese culture exchanges and communications. The translation of Mongolian folktales into Chinese can be helpful for propagating the Mongolian culture to the outside woeld. As the Mongolian folktales are the parts of the Mongolian folk writings and can reflect the flavor of the Mongolian writings and Mongolian culture, it is not only the culture exchange but also the act of recreation to translate them to Chinese. This thesis bases on the theory of translation and methods to discuss the general situations and the translation methods of the translations of Mongolian folk writings into Chinese. Using and comparing the original text and the translated text of the Folktales of Oirad Mongolian, this thesis analyses the language element, ideological trend, culture relations, culture expansion, types, forms and styles of the writings and aesthetic standards.The layouts of this thesis:the reason of selecting the topic, the situation of the study, the purpose and importance of the study, the methods of the study, the innovation of the study and the references used in the paper. Part I states the general situation of the translation of the Mongolian folk writings into the Chinese. Part II explains the situations of the translated Mongolian folk writings and the importance of the translations into Mongolian. Part III concludes the translation principles and methods of folk writings according to the general situation of the translated folk writings. Part IV analyses the six problems in the translation of the Mongolian folk writings based on the living example. Part V is conclusion. It testifies and proves the aesthetic value and the essay value of the translation of the Mongolian folktales into Chinese by analyzing the Chinese translation of them.
