The Study On The Thought Of XunZi's "Fen"

In recent years,The research achievements of Xunzi's thoughts are immense,but the research on Xunzi's thought of "fen" is relatively few. Although "fen" is not the creation of Xunzi, the thought of Xunzi's "fen" is embodied in almost the whole book of the "Xunzi". Only according to my statistics, "fen" as a word appears as many as 117 times, thus it can be seen, "fen" has an important position in Xunzi's ideology, and it is also a distinct characteristic of Xunzi. Xunzi incorporate things and keeps improving. In the pre-Qin academic melting pot, he absorbed and transformed the points of view of early thinkers or the thinkers of his same time in line with the development of the times and suitable to the theory construction of himself. Xunzi's "fen" as a way of thinking and values, is collectively embodied in the viewpoint of nature and human, the concept of instinct and manual work, and bright idea. It has a profound influence on the Xunzi's thought. Xunzi meets people, society and world from the perspective of"fen", which is unique in the pre-Qin thinkers. This article gives a brief interpretation of the basic connotation of "fen", connects the contents of "nature and man", "the difference between instinct and manual work", wholly analyses Xunzi's thought of "fen". Xunzi says "fen", but "fen" is not the purpose. The ultimate purpose of Xunzi's thought of "fen" is" a harmonious, orderly and good society, and the value of the thought of "fen" has vital significance in both the ancient society and today's society.
