Research On The Economic Thoughts Of The Book Of Lord Shang

As is known, we imitate Qin politics when making posterity. During pre-Qin period, Shang Yang tried his best to nudge the reform. Shang Yang's reform laid a solid material foundation for which made the State of Qin rich and strong and had great influence on the reform of political system. The thoughts of Shang Yang and his legalist were mainly recorded in the Book of Lord Shang. Researching the economic thoughts of the Book of Lord Shang is an effective way to understand the economic reform during the Warring States and a reliable source to learn about Shang Yang and the system of the State of Qin and the solid basis to know the ancient monarchical centralization in China.On the basis of the former research achievement, the content framework of this article is from General History of Chinese Economic Thought which made by Zhao Jing who is the economics professor of Peking University. And the original code comes from Elementary Analysis of Book of Lord Shang written by Jiang Lihong. Combining primary historical sources of Qin bamboo slips, this article systemize, unscramble and evaluate the economic thoughts of the Book of Lord Shang.This article is divided into five parts. The chapter one:introduction. The main contents of this chapter are the significance of topic, the literature review. As to literature review, this article summarizes existing research results from the perspective of agricultural development theory, revenue and tax reform theory and population reform theory. The chapter two:the basic theory. The Contents of this chapter are divided into the relevant historiographical theory and economics theory. From the perspective of historical materialism, the part combines historical variation theory and the theory of fame and wealth to elaborate the basis of Shang Yang's reform. Then, the part applies the utility theory, incentive theory and information-joint responsibility theory of economics to conduct economic analysis in order to give us a better understanding of Shang Yang's economic policy. The chapter three:Shang Yang and the Book of Lord Shang. The content of this chapter mainly introduces the personal profiles of Shang Yang, the spread and change of book of Shang Yang and the era background of this book. The chapter four:The content of Shang Yang's economic thoughts. Shang Yang's economic thoughts are divided into the agricultural development theory, revenue and tax reform theory and population reform theory. The part stresses on examine the thoughts of value agriculture while contempt trade, land tax collection, land surtax collection, trade tax collection, corvee confiscation and "weakening people" "drumming up people" in Book of Lord Shang. The chapter five:historical position of economic thoughts in Book of Lord Shang and modern significance evaluation. The economic thoughts in Book of Lord which focuses on agriculture and war own historical orientation, however, the thoughts of "weakening people" and "contempt trade" have historical limitations.
