Case Study On Minnan Dialect Island In Pingfeng Village,Hanazhou City

Pingfeng Village in Liuxia Zhen,Hangzhou City is a Minnan dialect island which comes from the re-immigration of the Quanzhou Minnan dialect island in Pingyang,Wenzhou.This paper takes the Minnan dialect in Hangzhou as the researching object, selects Pingfeng Village as the main researching point, observes the situation of Minnan dialect which is surrounded by Hangzhou dialect.First of all, based on the field investigation, this paper inspecting the geographic situation, historical origins, personnel structure and other issues, the result confirm the conclusions of previous studies, namely Minnan dialect island in northern Zhejiang formd in a secondary migration. Therefore, this thesis takes Quanzhou dialect as the source dialect, carries on the comparative study guided by historical comparative linguistics theory.Secondly, this paper takes the language ontology as the starting point, using the method of description and comparison, and compares three dimensions, which including phone,lexical and grammar with surrounding strong dialect, in order to discover the characteristics and the formation mechanism of Minnan dialect which is surrounded by Hangzhou dialect. The Minnan dialect nature of Pingfeng dialect is still obvious, for its phonological, lexical and grammatical system still retain the characteristics of Minnan dialect. And by comparing Pingfeng dialect and Minnan dialect, we could find that Pingfeng dialect develops more slowly than its source dialect.However, on the other hand, the contact with the surrounding strong dialect will make the development of dialect island more rapidly.in the influence of the surrounding strong dialect, there are some differences between Pingfeng dialect and its source dialect Quanzhou dialect. Also, Pingfeng dialect is gradually penetrated by some factors of Wu dialect. Although these differences have not changed its nature, but based on the analysis of the current status of Pingfeng dialect, we still could predict that the decline of Minnan dialect in Pingfeng Village is an inevitable result.Finally, this article analyzed the living habits, language psychology and the customs of the local residents, and found that elder people in the local residents are still loyal to their mother tongue, but on the other hand, even though the native speakers have the strong desire of protection their mother tongue, but under the impact of the strong dialect, they have to choose Hangzhou dialect, even Mandarin, resulting Minnan dialect islands gradually reduced in Hangzhou. Based on the current status of Pingfeng dialect, it could be predicted that in several decades, the decline of Minnan dialect in Hangzhou is inevitable.
