This is a translation report concerning the parenthetical expressions of some parts of Sale of Goods( Revised 1985) of Fiji and their translation methods. Sale of Goods( Revised 1985) of Fiji, enacted by Fiji government, is the only existing statutory law on regulating sales of goods of Fiji and consists of seven parts. During the process of translation, the author of this report has encountered many parenthetical expressions.Parenthetical expressions, separated from other sentence elements by using dashes, brackets or commas, are words, phrases or sentences and interrupt the coherence of sentences, which increases the difficulty of translation. The author deals with the translation problems caused by parenthetical expressions in some parts of Sale of Goods( Revised 1985) of Fiji from the following two aspects and concludes the experiences learned from this translation practice. Firstly, the author elaborates the classifications and functions of parenthetical expressions and concludes their translation methods. Then, the author proposes three translation methods for translating parenthetical expressions: insertion, recasting and synthesis. Thus, while translating parenthetical expressions in legal texts, translators should analyze their classifications and functions, and then translate these parenthetical expressions by using appropriate translation methods so that to make the translated versions more proper.
