A Report On The English-Chinese Translation Of World Investment Report: Reforming International Investment Governance, 2015(Excerpt)

The material of this translation report, namely World Investment Report: Reforming International Investment Governance, 2015, was issued by United Nations Conference On Trade and Development(hereafter referred to as UNCTAD) in Geneva on 24 th, June, 2015. The Report reviews the trends of global foreign direct investment(FDI) inflows and policies and then puts forward the action menu of reforming the international investment regime with topics.The translation report is divided into four parts: The first part is the task description, introducing the source of the translation material, the contents of the material and the significance of translating the material. The second part is about the translation process, including the preparation work, the first draft of the translation, the revised version and the final version. The third part, based on the guidance of functional equivalence theory, discusses in detail the translation of the difficult and important parts in the translation such as professional terms and complex sentences. The translation methods adopted include syntactic linearity, readjustment of word order, structural splitting and voice transformation. The last part is the summary and reflection of the translation report including the enlightenment and lessons as well as unsolved problems.
