The English-Chinese Translation Of Long-term Investing: What Determines Investment Horizon ? And A Report On The Translation

The thesis consists of three parts:the source text of Long-Term Investing: What Determines Investment Horizon?, its Chinese version translated by the author and a report on the translation. The source text studies issues on investment and the importance of investment horizon, including a comparison between short-term investment and long-term investment, and it also elaborates and discusses twelve determinants of investment horizon. The Chinese version provides domestic researchers with some latest materials for reference. The source text belongs to financial English, so the experience and strategies gained in translation process can be applied to text translation of same type. And the translator can improve her translation skills, too.The translation report introduces some basic information about the source text, including its text type and linguistic features. Then it analyzes how the author and translator applies the Functional Equivalence theory to her translation, trying to realize lexical equivalence, syntactical equivalence and stylistic equivalence. The translation experience is then summed up.
