Nowadays,there are needs in Chinese-language personnel due to an increase of communication,politic and economic exchanges between Thailand and China.Since Thai government had put Chinese learning and teaching in the spotlight,Chinese teaching developed rapidly.Chinese language became a vice important foreign language following English.Thai natives who teach Chinese language are still main resources in teaching Chinese language in Thailand because of their understanding in student’s background knowledge,cultures and Thai educational system.The teachers,moreover,are also better than Chinese teacher in terms of communication in classroom.The participants in this study were Thai professors and undergrad students whose major is Chinese from Khon Kaen university,Ubonratchathani university and Mahasarakam university.Giving questionnaires and arranging interviews are to investigate how much cultural knowledge and communication skills of both teachers and learners are.Also,Questionnaire and interview could gather information of the teaching condition,classroom settings and others specialty of teachers.After information gathering,there was an information analysis to find out with issues that Thai teacher are facing and solutions for those issues.This THESIS was divided into 6 chapters as follows.The introduction talks about the justifications,purposes,importance,tools and research designs of this study.Chapter 1 first,reviews about “The Current Situation of Native Teacher’s Chinese teaching in Thailand” that related studies from both national and international sources.Furthermore,this chapter point out the achievements and weaknesses of related studies.Finally,point out the strength that this study has to solve those weaknesses and suggests the innovations of this research.Chapter 2 collecting and storing information about Chinese Major Students’ evaluated native teachers and teachers’ self-evaluation.SPSS 16 was used to analyze,in depth,the statistics and information gathered from both questionnaires and interviews.Chapters 3 discusses the current situation of Native Teacher’s Chinese teaching in Thailand,and concluded that Chinese-teaching by Thai teachers has following problems;first,teachers do not have enough understanding in Chinese proverbs.Second,Teachers are not able to understand relationships between letter structures,pronunciation and meaning of frequently used Chinese letters.Third,the instructors do not lead students read aloud with appropriate mood.Fourth,the professors cannot connect the pronunciation rules with teaching listening and speaking skills.Fifth,lecturers are lack of knowledge in using Chinese punctuation.Sixth,teachers do not have enough understanding in Chinese culture,and there are shortages of comprehensive and descriptive explanations on communication background.Seventh,teachers failed to design lessons and spoiled classroom activities(play game).Eighth,the instructors do not well understand the Modern Teaching Media and less using up-to-date classroom technologies.Last,Teachers cannot meet students’ needs.Chapter 4 provides the solutions for the issues in chapter 3 as the following;First,Ministry of education and office of the higher education commission had better increase their funding for Chinese teaching and learning curriculum.Next,the salary of teachers and staff should be increased.Also,there should be events and seminars on the subject of Chinese teaching and learning between Thai-native teacher and Chinese-native teachers.Then,teachers need to be stimulated to enroll for special trainings in both Thai and others countries.Next,there should be seminars on Communication Theory and Chinese Teaching.Then,the ministry should expand the working duration of Chinese volunteers(teaching)in Thailand.Lastly,the ministry should provide knowledgeable teachers from China to teach Chinese in Thailand.Hopes that the information provided in this study can be helpful for Chinese-teaching.The conclusion concludes all the information in this study alongside with the suggestions for further study and weaknesses of this study.
