In the social critique theory of Marxism, ecological theory play an important role in ecological theory.Especially in recent years, there are many serious environmental problems in the process of modernization of China. Therefore, we need to think over the relationships between human and nature, whether our life is influenced by economic development or unreasonable production pattern.Foster, the most outstanding professor in sociology department of the University of Oregon, is a representative figure of Marxism Ecology. On the basis of essential spirit of Marxism,he has made a new explanation on the relationship between human and nature under new historical conditions, which makes a valuable reference for our ecological civilization.Marx’s theory of metabolism rift is the core content of Foster’s.The connotation of nature is mainly reflected on the material exchange between nature and human society.Forster explains and reconstructs the metabolism rift of Marx’s,mainly from the inside of the nature, between man and nature, and inside of the society which emphasize the intrinsic value of nature. He believes that the cause of metabolism rift is the“alienation”under the capitalist mode of production.Foster also reveals that the primitive accumulation of capitalism and endless request of capitalists for profit are the fundamental social reason for alienation among human, nature and the relationships between human and nature.Furthermore, Forster also brings forward that there are elements of modern sustainable thought in Marxism. He criticizes the capitalist mode of production. His metabolism rift has enlightened significance on our country’s ecological construction.
