Hongshui River upstream is located in the Southwestern hinterland. Although this area had been governed by the Central Plains Dynasty in the early history, it was still a long course to integrate different politics, economy, culture, military and other aspects with the Central Plains.This thesis studies the Tuqiu(Tusi) Clan, a typical Aborigines Group living in Hongshui River upstream. It elaborates initial contact between this area and the Central Plain in Tang and Song dynasties by analyzing the Group features, tributary relations, military activities, etc. Referring to social presence, tributary relations, taxes and corvee relations, roles played by Tusi in military activities and interaction in Yuan and Ming Dynasty, especially in Ming Dynasty, it reveals similarities on economy, politics and military between this area and the Central Plain. It also analysis the key point of communication and integration between these two area through studying the influences of bureaucratization reform on economy and politics, together with affiliation of Tusi Group. At last, the writer takes Confucianism and aboriginal culture as example, which explains cultural collision and integration of this area since Dynasty of Tang and Song.In summary, this thesis is attempting to use historical anthropology theory and method and takes social development since Dynasty of Tang and Song as the time clue. By studying the group features, local politics, economy, culture, military and how the Group Leader and the people enhanced communication with the Central Plain and eventually completed integration, this thesis acquires overall cognitive of this area in a long historical period. Under historical skeletons of this area, it gives analysis and survey on relationship between minority area and the Central Government. This thesis reveals social mechanism and cultural causes that led in social transition along the history.
