This report is based on author's personal interpreting practice. The underlying purpose is to probe into some practice issues in English-to-Chinese simultaneous interpretation by employing translation theory and case studies. In fact, the report tries to demonstrate that the practice issues lead to interpreter's cognition loads and in turn the loads exert the influence on interpreters' performance. Here, the author intends to analyze and discuss the cognition loads and its related copying tactics as the main. The report is focused on The 3rd Central China Art & Design International Seminar sponsored by the Jingdezhen municipal government and Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute on Oct 21 st, 2015.Honored as one of the interpreting team member, the author has experienced the simultaneous interpreting, and thus, based on that practice, the author will organize the report in four parts. The first part is the introduction, which briefly illustrates the task involved, such as background of the task, the process, and the design of the task as well. The second part is the literature review, which clarifies some technical terms and its related concepts in translation theory and simultaneous interpreting. The third part is the analysis, which explores the triggers of cognition load issues in simultaneous interpretation and interpreting problems occurring in the practice, for instance long-sentence translation, on-the-site emergency, high speech density, accent, etc. Specifically, the samples of the cognition issues in interpretation practice are selected from 6 foreigner's speeches at the 3rd Central China Art & Design International Seminar. In view of the previous research on cognitive-load issues, the author intends to propose related copying tactics in the fourth part. There are only a few, if not none, researches can be found regarding to this aspect. Hence, it is believed discussions about this aspect would be constructive and indeed necessary for future interpreting study and teaching. It is concluded that the analysis and study on cognition-load issues in simultaneous interpretation through theoretical and case study, as well the discussion of its influence on interpreters does help interpreters improve their performance and gain a better understanding of cognition-load issues and its copying tactics. It is author's hope that the report will provide some instructions to interpretation training and course.
