| With the increasing connections and contacts among countries,simultaneous interpreting(SI),as one of the most efficient translation ways,has been widely used in many international situations.Under this background,the demand for Chinese-English simultaneous interpreting(C-E SI)in China is gradually increasing,and the requirements for its quality are accordingly increasing.Due to the occurrence of SI,a large number of scholars at home and abroad have conducted researches on it and proposed their own views and opinions on the strategies and techniques of interpretation.On the basis of improving professional interpreting capacities,how interpreters distribute effort rationally and adopt interpreting tactics skillfully is worthwhile of researching.This thesis takes the Effort Model of interpreter Daniel·Gile as the theoretical basis and selects the C-E simultaneous interpretations of Xi Jinping's speeches at the BRICS Summit in 2017 as corpus.The effective simultaneous interpreting tactics have been summarized through the feasible method of case study.At the same time,the thesis has reviewed the previous researches of Gile's Effort Model at home and abroad.On this basis,the deficiencies of the Effort Model are put forward and the appropriate supplement,awareness of audience,is made accordingly for the formula of simultaneous interpreting.The thesis not only summarizes and explains simultaneous interpretations of Xi Jinping's speeches by using the theory of new Effort Model,but also summarizes regular tactics and methods.In this study,four interpreting tactics of C-E SI are explored including compensation,omission,anticipation and paraphrasing tactic.In the process of using the tactics,the interpreter should allocate efforts reasonably and produce high-quality interpretation,so as to achieve the purpose of effective communication.This study suggests that it is of great significance to adopt appropriate tactics to improve the quality of C-E SI. |
